The local Conservative team representing Frampton Cotterell have submitted to South Gloucestershire Council a community petition, calling for Church Road to be prioritised for road resurfacing.
Over the past year, reports of road surface issues and potholes have spiralled, with the worst of the problems located between the Bristol Road junction and the junction with School Road.
The local Conservative Team have been persistent with their efforts to make sure funding is prioritised for road resurfacing on Church Road and Park Lane in Frampton Cotterell, and in December launched a petition to demonstrate to South Gloucestershire Council the demand and need to prioritise the roads for resurfacing this year.
After a huge community response, Parish Councillors Tim Niblett and Andy Pullen, and local resident Tom Howell, have handed their petition directly to the Council Leader Toby Savage.
Meeting on Church Road to show the Council Leader the issue first-hand, Cllr Andy Pullen said: “The need for resurfacing is clear, and we are concerned that if these repairs are left any longer, we will increasingly see damage to vehicles, as well as safety issues for cyclists through the village.”
Cllr Tim Niblett added, “Thank you to everyone who signed this petition. We have been in regular touch with residents and will continue to press for resurfacing on these key roads, as quickly as possible.”
“This petition shows the need for repairs is clear for all to see. We are determined to deliver this for the community.”
Also discussed with South Gloucestershire Council were proposals by the Conservatives to install a formal give-way system along Park Lane, to improve safety for pedestrians and motorists.
