As of January 2024, a total of £11,531 has been awarded to the constituency Thornbury and Yate, as the Government continues to work with local communities to improve access to high quality grassroots sport facilities.
The Government’s most recent investment in our local area is the latest demonstration of the long-term commitment to the area, as the Government looks to transform access to sport and physical activity across the nation.
Supported by the local Member of Parliament Luke Hall, cases were made for funding in our area, and the MP has this month welcomed the funding which will be upgrading equipment at a number of local clubs and schools, including goalposts at Marlwood school and The Ridings, a grass pitch and maintenance equipment at Olveston United Football Club, and Park Tennis Court Renovations at Sunnyside Lane Playing Field and Charfield Playing Field.
Local MP Luke Hall said, “A huge part of our Positive Plan for South Gloucestershire is all about investing in and backing our amazing sports clubs, schools and local organsiations, that are so crucial to the local community and also help keep us fit and active”.
“Our football teams, athletic clubs and local schools do so much for us, and I am delighted this investment is recognising their efforts and making sure we have the very best facilities in our area”
Separately, Sport England has invested over £400 million of Government support into grassroots sport across the country, and between 2021 and 2025, the Government will have invested over £400 million into a wide range of grassroots sports facilities to provide people with much needed spaces to get active.
