At Pucklechurch, planning approval has recently been granted for a single storey extension to provide 3 additional classrooms along with associated landscaping.
These works – agreed by the Council’s Conservative Cabinet earlier in the year – are in addition to remodelling works that are already underway at the school.
Boyd Valley’s newly-elected Conservative councillors Steve Reade and Ben Stokes have been campaigning to invest in local village primary schools. They said: “We have been helping the school to overcome the bureaucracy that’s associated with much-needed investment on this scale.
We are really looking forward to seeing the positive impact that the completion of these major improvements will have on everyday school life, particularly for pupils.”
Meanwhile, a ‘topping out’ ceremony was held recently on the site of the new £16m Yate International Academy that is being rebuilt thanks to Conservative councillors. Planning for rebuilding of Winterbourne International Academy is continuing.
And building work is continuing on the New Siblands special school in Thornbury.
