Commenting on Wick and Pucklechurch being some of the first communities which can now order superfast broadband as a result of the council's broadband project, local South Gloucestershire Boyd Valley Conservative councillors Steve Reade and Ben Stokes said:
“We are delighted to see that Pucklechurch and Wick are in the first wave of communities which can now order superfast broadband because this will ensure that our local businesses and households are not left in the broadband slow lane.
"We know that poor broadband services are a major barrier to economic growth and investment, whilst also restricting individuals and families in accessing online services such as educational activities, communication, entertainment, shopping and paying bills.
"Residents and businesses should not have to struggle to take maximum advantage of the internet and online services and we look forward to Wick and Pucklechurch taking up this new service."
And commenting on confirmation that Severn Beach will be able to order superfast broadband in the autumn, local South Gloucestershire Conservative councillor for Pilning and Severn Beach Robert Griffin said:
“Poor broadband speeds is something that local residents and businesses regularly raise and so I'm delighted that Severn Beach will see improvements made by this autumn so we can lessen this digital divide."
